When one is confused as to where they should go, or where they should be, they normally ask a nearby person, superior, or a friend. If they don't have someone to ask, they should have a map to consult, or maybe a cell phone to use for calling said person/superior/friend.
Unfortunately, there was not a soul in the long hallway. There was no one to ask for directions or help besides a few paintings on the wall, which were not talkative objects. And the suitcase gripped in her fingers did not hold a map, and her cellphone needed charging.
In short terms, Leonie was very, very lost.
To be frank, she expected at least one person to be wandering about, maybe as lost as she was. It was terribly lonely standing by herself in a hall that was so large in comparison to her, she almost feared she was going to be gobbled up by the walls and carpet. Her papers were buried somewhere in her suitcase, which would probably explode with her belongings if she were to open it, and Lili didn't quite fancy the idea of having her shirts and stuffed animals strewn about the rug.
She continued walking, swinging her suitcase back and forth slightly as she stepped along. Passing doors, she read the numbers and tried to remember what room she belonged to.
103? That didn't click in her head, and Lili moved on.
102? Didn't sound right either.
101? It sounded familiar, but all she could remember it from was the cute cartoon 101 Dalmatians, so she continued.
The girl stopped in front of 100. The shiny numbers looked inviting and it sounded like a good number, and she set down her suitcase in front of the doorway, reaching out and twisting the doorknob to let herself in. The room appeared to not have anyone inside, which was unfortunate, because she would have loved to meet her roommates. She carefully tiptoed across the floor and into the bedroom, where four beds sat unoccupied. Her roommates' own things were already set in place, it appeared.
Lili couldn't deny the fact that as she looked at all their stuff, she wanted to look a little closer.
It wouldn't be an invasion of privacy if she just looked at the things that were already set out, would it? No, of course not. They would expect their things to be looked at if they left them in the open, of course, and her roommates wouldn't mind, considering they would be sharing a room anyway.
She silently moved to the first bed, peeking at the bed covers and pillows, which seemed to be decorated in red and black. The two colors looked well together, despite the fact the bed was unmade and the pillow lied at an angle not aligned with the bed.
It practically screamed to be tidied up.
Lili pulled the covers into place, smoothing out wrinkles in the blanket, and reached to put the pillow back when she discovered a small, brown leg of an animal jutting out from underneath.
Tugging it out from the pillow, she found it to be an old stuffed animal, a moose. And it was so...
Cute.
Her mouth turned upwards into a smile as she looked over the small animal, all the while wondering who would be keeping a stuffed animal under their pillow. Most likely is was one of the younger students, she concluded, tucking a lock of blond hair behind her ear before setting it down to rest on top of the pillow.
Maybe this school wasn't as frightening as she thought it out to be.
