The first, she thought, of a series of unfortunate events was that she had forgotten where she had placed her key. She turned her pockets inside out, rummaged through her belongings in such a way that it looked as if she was unpacking her things in the hallway, and retraced her steps to see if she'd dropped the key somewhere, only to find out that she had put the key inside her coin purse.
She sighed as she rolled up her things into bundles and forced them to fit inside her bags. No point prettying them up if she had to take them out again later. She fit the key in the lock, turned the key, and then went inside the room.
It looked nice. Needed a bit of prettying. She hoped that her roommates wouldn't mind redecorating.
She eyed the computers. Absolutely brilliant. She had her laptop with her, but there were some things better done on a computer.
She quickly found the bedroom. It looked enough for four people. Not enough, however, for all her junk. She was sure she'd find a way to store all her things inside her room. She could, quite possibly, add a couple more cabinets or boxes. There was also the option of being organized for more than a few weeks.
She picked the bed on one of the corners beside the window. She immediately sat -- bounced would be the more accurate term -- on the bed and took a deep breath before grinning widely and beginning her unpacking.
Her roommates could arrive anytime soon and she would rather be not fixing her stuff when talking to them.
She really, really hoped that there was at least one more girl in the room. And that she would get along with her roommates.
"It'd be odd if we hated each other," she said out loud.
