Well, wasn't this a good use of an afternoon. Randomly destroying things for no apparent reason. Well, he did have a reason - he hadn't trained in quite a long time -, but it felt like mindless destruction.
Eventually... eventually, he would run out of energy; even with Chi, he had quite low energy (without, he didn't know what he would be like), and, generally, he couldn't last for very long. Still, it was (occasionally) enjoyable to attack things for no apparent reason, and... well, it was something he did well.
“One of these days, aru,” he murmured, as he finally appeared to have destroyed (not literally, of course) the mannequin he was attacking. “One of these days, I’ll work out what other useful things I can do with my powers.” He paused. “Rather than destroying dummies, that is.”
It was rare that he would think of something he could do with himself, but... this was, fortunately, on of those times, while he was attacking (read: murdering, pretty much) the unfortunate dummy. But, of course, in general he was still discovering things he could do; currently the most useful thing he could do was, pretty much, grow his fingers in to claws.
There were one or two things he was trying to figure out: with the biological manipulation, was he technically able to do any of those complicated kung fu moves that he had generally fallen over attempting in the past?
Well, only one way to find out.

Afternoons weren't the best time to take a stroll around the school grounds, what with some upperclassmen believing that everyone younger than them was always fresh blood after dismissal time, but she was terribly bored. The fact that she couldn't seem to take a nap wasn't helping much.
She stifled her yawn and stretched her limbs. Then she heard somewhat loud thudding sounds to her right. She blinked and focused her attention on where the sound was coming from. "Combat dojo...?" She dropped her arms to her sides. She couldn't remember ever going inside the dojo.
"Now's a good time to start," she said to herself.
She made her way to one of the open sliding doors and peeked inside the room. There she saw a young man who, if all that destruction was any clue, seemed to have a lot of pent-up anger. This was also a young man who seemed awfully familiar to her.
Her eyebrows rose as she saw her brother's face. She didn't know he could fight like that. He'd always seemed like such a peaceful person.
And she didn't know you could even use bio manip that way. She had only ever used bio manip to change her or anyone else's appearance and do some internal damage. She had never really thought of, well, using it as a physical offense. "It could be his chi." But it didn't feel like it.
There were times when she thought she didn't know her brother as well as she should. Almost as if he was a stranger to her.
He had come here to clear his head because he was so depressed these days, but it certainly hadn’t helped. He felt just as miserable as he had before. Sure, he had felt worse in the past (all of that was due to fish, though), but… something was definitely not right. He just didn’t know quite what it was, though.
Angry at himself (the sad thing was that he didn’t even know why; it was just one of those spontaneous things), he threw a seriously not fooling around type of punch at a nearby wall, and yelped loudly, narrowing his eyes, when he realized that the wall was, indeed, hard. He winced and licked blood off his now-scraped knuckles.
Once again, he just didn’t understand why he was so mad, but, as always, there was some unknown reason, and he was an unpleasant combination of angry and just plain miserable. There was… there was probably a reason there somewhere, but until he found it, he would just have to live with the horrible, empty feeling.
And that wasn’t pleasant.
Yao decided that he had had just about enough accidentally injuring himself (and somewhat deliberately injuring himself, but the less said about that the better, he thought), so he turned to leave, and came face to face with - Mei.
Hoboy, this was embarrassing.
He just looked a little way away from her, dabbing at his injured knuckles with his sleeves, and hoping that his little sister wouldn’t question that.
“You didn’t see that, aru,” he muttered, but he didn’t push past her as he would usually do.
It wouldn't be a lie to say that she felt a little scared. What if someone had managed to take over her brother's mind and was now making him do all of those crazily violent things in order to make him all bruised and bloodied.
But then she had this gut feeling that that was her brother out there. There was just something about the way her brother did things that made her think that that really was him.
When Yao faced her, she jumped back a little. She then stood up straight and stared at him. After he told her to forget about whatever she'd seen, she glared at him. How did he expect her to do that?
It was amazing! Absolutely not like how he usually was. And to be honest, her brother was a little... not cool. Not like other cool older brothers.
"Don't be stupid, gege," she told him with a frown. Even though he was the way he was, he was still family and nothing he did could change that.
She held her hands out. "Now give me your knuckles and let's see what we can do with them." She supposed that she could try and speed up the healing process a bit, though it would most probably hurt. She could also disable his pain receptors for a while if she wasn't too sure about what she was going to do. There was also the option of simply letting Yao heal his own wounds, but he didn't seem to have enough will to concentrate with him right now. He'd probably just make things worse.
Once again, Yao was sure that he had no use on this planet. It was just one of those things that tended to happen when he thought too much, but it certainly. Didn't. Help.
And… well… It sometimes seemed that there was no distinct reason for his existence.
Or to him, at least.
As much as he cared about his sister, there were those times (like now, for example) that he just… he needed to be alone. Like now, for example. Still, he hardly wanted to push his little sister away.
To tell the truth, he felt like just finding somewhere dark and quiet and crying for a while, although that was unlikely to be able to happen any time soon.
“Thanks, aru,” Yao mumbled indistinctly, but not for her attempt to help him. More for not asking exactly why he was so miserable.
Still.
“M-Mei, I'm sorry about this, aru,” he said indistinctly, looking a little way away from her. He sighed and wiped his eyes with the heel of his hand.
He wondered half-heartedly if Mei could tell how close to tears he was from his voice.
Something told him she would be able to tell, so there was no point in not continuing. He sighed darkly, thinking that, if he could he would heal his knuckles, but that he honestly didn't think that he could.
“I-I might always be like this, but I was thinking,” he sniffed He could already feel tears stinging behind his eyes. “I was thinking that… that… if we had never realized about our powers…” He paused, attempting to gather himself. “We'd still…” He hadn't realized it, but he was upset enough for his eyes to have changed colour, from their usual amber-brown to a very pale pink, practically un-noticeable. “We'd still just be normal children, aru.…”

As Mei held her brother's hands and healed them, she thought, 'His hands are still larger than mine.' These were the hands that carried and supported her way back then. She was somewhat happy to find out that they still felt as warm as ever. She supposed that perhaps the reason why her brother's hands were so warm was because of his powers.
She looked up when he mumbled his thanks. "It's... It's nothing." How long had it been since the last time they bothered to talk with each other all alone. Lately, they always made sure that there was someone, or a group of someones, in between them.
They sucked a lot as siblings, didn't they?
Concentrate, concentrate! She might just get his tissues all screwed up.
"Don't worry about it." She was a little startled when he took one of his eyes away. She looked up a little bit and saw him battling with tears. She'd always thought that her older brother was somewhat leaning on the crybaby side. Not that she had anything against it.
She flat-out stared at him when he began to talk some more. He'd always liked his powers thought. She'd always thought that he did. Personally, she had no issues with her powers. Had no issues about being different. It was just a way of life now.
She had no idea, no idea at all, that he had thoughts like that about his power.
"If we never knew about our powers," she started, "don't you think that would be a little sad?" She clutched his hand a little tighter. She looked at him straight in the eyes. He was so upset about this. This thing which she thought they'd all gotten over. "We wouldn't be here without them. We wouldn't meet all these students." She paused.
What was normal anyway?
"I think we're a little like normal children. Except the powers." And the prodding and the questioning and sometimes the staring right after people found out that they had special abilities. "Besides," she smiled at him, "don't you think it's boring? Don't you think that life wouldn't be complete without your powers?"
She probably wasn't making much sense, but she hoped that her brother would get the gist of it.
