Kiviuq sighed, barefeet pressing into the soft sands of the white beach. It was early, shortly after sunrise, and Kiviuq was still tired. Nanuq was restless for some reason and kept poking him with his cold black nose until he rolled out of bed. The Inuit boy decided to wear down some of that endless energy, so he grabbed the canine's lifejacket and walked him to the shoreline.

Nanuq had issues swimming in rough waves because he was missing a front limb. His head often dipped under the water and Kiviuq frantically ran in a few times to retrieve the 80 lb dog from drowning. Plus, waves tended to be rougher when Kiviuq frequented the beach. Regardless, the orange dog-lifejacket strapped on the tripodal canine kept him afloat with ease. Nanuq didn't especially like the accessory, but he tolerated it if it allowed him to swim and cool off.

Lobbing a stick into the turquoise waters, Kiv watched as Nanuq leaped into a wave to charge after it. The scene brought a smile to the tanned kid's face, which was a rare expression on the teenager, but it was becoming more frequent. Mathias was working with him on his powers, and despite Kiviuq's efforts to make the blond leave, he was stubborn as hell. Kiviuq looked at his hand. Maybe what Mathias said was true. They were trying to see if Kiviuq could bring good fortune, but hadn't succeeded so far. It wasn't the most important thing for the Greenlander though. Kiviuq just wanted to learn to suppress his powers. He'd be completely content with that alone.

A few moments passed until Nanuq bounced out of the water, stick in his muscular jowles. He dropped it at Kiviuq's feet before giving his dense coat a good shake. Kiviuq yelped before skipping back a few steps, but the damage had been done. His jeans and hoodie (despite the heat he usually tried to wear one) were soaked. “Hey you! Argg, you couldn't do that away from me?”

Nanuq cocked his head to the side, his tongue lolling out of his mouth. Kiviuq sighed. “'Course you couldn't...” Picking up the stick, he whipped it as far as he could and he saw Nanuq's soggy form bounce back into the current.

Suddenly, the boy felt something. His vision swam and a cold feeling gripped the pit of his stomach. A premonition? What...? Kiviuq stood very still as the image played in his mind. The boy from a few days ago... the one who did something to Nanuq that Kiviuq didn't understand. He was running towards Kiviuq. He was also injured, but Kiviuq couldn't tell the severity as the premonition wasn't clear cut. He grabbed the front of Kiviuq's shirt and gave him a firm shake, yelling blurred words things into his ear. Kiviuq blinked, his vision returning to the picture-perfect view of the ocean. If what he saw was a premonition... He turned, and (as he expected ) he saw the boy from his memories storming towards him. Kiviuq's mild mood from before disappeared. He wasn't exactly chummy chummy with this guy, and he didn't know why he was so upset with him.

Even though he knew it was coming, he couldn't help but gasp a tiny bit when he was grabbed. Kiviuq was damn near lifted off his feet by this guy, and for the first time in a while, Kiviuq wasn't afraid of himself and his powers, but instead another person and what they might do to him.

Lukas was having one hell of a day, or rather, he was having a rather crappy week all together. His troubles truly had begun a few days ago starting from the very moment he had woken up. The first thing that had happened was when Lukas’ alarm went off, it had shocked him so back that he had fallen out of bed, right on top of one of his roommates dirty pairs of socks. After a flurry of irritated words from that early in the morning, Lukas’ life continued to worsen each hour. It started with little things: he stubbed his toe on his bed, the shower was way too cold, he dropped his toothbrush into the garbage, and could not find his schoolbag for ten minutes because it was somehow beneath his bed. Little things right? Classic Monday morning; expect things just kept on getting worse.

Not only was Lukas being uncharacteristically clumsy with the door slamming on his knee, hitting his elbow four times, someone’s show hitting him in the back of the head, but he accidentally forgot his well-done homework, broke three of his brand new pencils, fell out of his chair during a test when he was picking up his eraser, and then his desk broke entirely when he stood to hand in said test. It’s safe to say that his ears have been burning all day with frustration and embarrassment, but he just couldn’t understand why. He was not tardy, but he was late for his favorite class, he was not clumsy, but he fell down a flight of stairs and sprained his arm so he now has to wear a sling for a couple of days, and that was just day one.

Over the next couple of days, Lukas slept through his alarm, missed training, dropped his beloved Nordic Cross hairpin into the toilet, thankfully it was clean, wore his shirt inside-out and backwards for an entire day, broke his calculator, and bird crapped on his notebook, and a squirrel stole his sandwich! He tripped on the running track, scrapped up his knee right good, broke all of his fiddle strings, got slightly lost on the island and it started to rain, and he could not sleep at night because a spring was poking in his back! Finally, one of his teachers noticed that he was falling asleep in class and asked what was wrong and, while at first he had been hesitant to say, it all started being stammered out due from his high stress level and lack of sleep. While his teacher was worried, she had no answer expect perhaps it was karma. Karma? That word floated around in Lukas’ mind until he ran into a tree as he walked down his usual path through the forest when it hit him, literally, because a large nut fell on his head.

That boy… that, weird, sonofabitch of a boy! What was his name? Oh who cares, but all of Lukas’ troubles had started when he had had his run with that stupid boy and his big white dog! Lukas eyes began to twitch and his mouth fell into a hard line, his body ached terribly from his fall. The next couple of hours were of Lukas stumbling and tripping his way around, inquiring if anyone had seen a weird tanned kid with a big-ass white dog. Finally, Lukas found himself on the borderline of the forest and the beach, and there before him was the dumb bastard. In his fury, the Norwegian took off running towards the boy, ignoring the screams of protest from his sore body, and confronted the Greenlander in the only way he could, by grabbing him by the collar and hoisting him up a bit while his powers exploded around him as he screamed.

“Ditt eple! What the hell did you do to me! You føkkings change me back now!”

For a hundred yards in every direction, up until the water’s edge, reality was suspended in time. The three-legged dog was frozen on the sand, seagulls hung suspended in the air, even the sand kicked up by Lukas know floated in his wake; the blonde’s hair wavered with unleashed power and his eyes blazed bright blue. Lukas was angry, hell he was pissed, but he was angry because he was confused, frustrated, and was putting the blame on someone he felt should be responsible. The arm holding up the other boy shook but Lukas held himself firm, for if he let the boy go he’d be lost to time. “Change me back now or you’ll have to deal more than just this stupid school’s principal….” The threat hung in he air, though Lukas’ expression was stern and hard and no sense of bad luck was touching him in his defensive time bubble.

Cloth bunched at Kiviuq's chin, choking the breath from his lips as he arms rose up to grip the other's. He wanted to scream, but the pressure on his Adam's apple made it damn near impossible to make an audible shout, especially on a deserted beach. Terror shot through his body as Kiviuq panicked, something that was a rarity for the teen. Ebony eyes snapped open as a massive wave rose up from the sea, a response to the heightened adrenaline that coursed through Kiviuq's veins. To say that Kiviuq didn't expect something was foolish, but he was so terrified that he wasn't thinking about his probability manipulating abilities. As much as his powers plagued him, they would activate if he were stressed, and being held damn near by the neck was more than enough to summon his curse. The water cascaded over the two, and as the shadow fell upon them, Kiviuq snapped his eyes closed and prepared to get drenched. His whole body tensed, almost coiling into fetal position as he inhaled a massive breath, expecting to be swept up in a current and dragged under by the Sea's hand.

However, the wetness and torrent of riptides and whirlpools never came. Instead, Kiviuq looked up to see a shell of droplets, a perfectly spherical dome of static water surrounding them, while the rest of the force of the ocean flooded around them. Kiviuq's eyes snapped back, but Nanuq was safety protected too. However, Kiviuq didn't understand this whole scenario at all. It was just like the time before, when this blond stopped Nanuq. Everything was motionless, calm, unaffected. Why?

“Ditt eple!” The words were spat like venom, and Kiviuq's attention was recaptured once more as his eyes shrank back. This boy seemed like a man at this point and the fierceness of his tone and raw anger in his eyes frightened Kiviuq. No one had ever really threatened Kiviuq. He was used to getting looks of disdain and hatred, but never so raw or blatant. Navy eyes were sharp, boring into his opaque ones and chilling his insides. H-... He didn't understand! Why was this person doing this? Why was he being choked and what had he done to deserve this?!

“S-Stop-”

“What the hell did you do to me! You fakkings change me back now!!”

Change him back? Change him back to what? Said eyes were looking at him with more than what Kiviuq was used to. He didn't want to be held under that perpetual stare. It... it frightened him! It honestly made Kiviuq feel raw, primitive fear. Kiviuq's normal terrors were concerning people he loved or cared about. He didn't want to hurt them. Never once had Kiviuq felt concerned for himself. And, being held and choked up by a kid that was making serious demands that Kiviuq was blind to was more than enough to practically make the kid tremble.

“Change me back now or you’ll have to deal more than just this stupid school’s principal….”

A threat. Not just a demand, a threat. 'Get away. Get away from him!' Kiviuq's mind collectively jumpstarted. He needed to run or this person was... they were going to hurt him. “Let me go!” he practically screamed, snapping his eyes shut as he tried to pull away from this guys vice grip. He twisted and writhed, somehow managing to get one of his feet on the ground, but he was still held by the other. Panicked eyes flew up open once more, but shrank in shock when they met the blond's face.

Blood.

Blood was oozing down from his nostrils, dripping down his lips and chin.

Blood. Was. Dripping. Down. His. Face.

Kiviuq's terror resumed, but in a different manner. By feeling so threatened, so frightened, he caused bodily harm. He was killing someone with the mere touch of his hands. The Greenlander almost began to cry as his arms flew up and away from the digits that were still fastened to his shirt and scarf. “I... I didn't mean to!”

Lukas’ rage, his unprecedented, confused, nerves frayed rage deafened his hearing to Kiviuq’s weak pleas that he stop. Lukas had had the worse week of his life, not that anything had traumatic had happened, it just was not natural! This kid was not natural and the pained feeling in his gut told Lukas that had found the culprit, not matter how the other boy tried to play the “innocence” game. The power the was rolling off of Lukas was not like anything he had ever felt and somewhere far in the back of his mind he knew that he was pushing himself too much; if he had been paying attention he would have realized that extraordinarily, his bubble was actually expanding slightly, and that had been thought previously impossible.

As focused as he was upon his grip upon the other boy that when he noticed the fast encroaching wave of shadow, he didn’t even glance at it but more felt the sudden weight of the wave’s water crashed down upon his time’s dome and his legs shuddered a bit as if he were bearing the weight himself. Lukas was scared and just didn’t know what to do at this point, but his situation was looking dire and strained for the water was putting pressure on his powers, pushing them to his limit, and as his anger fought back, his body was taking the toll. It was the change the boy’s expression that made Lukas blink, his anger stumbled, and he blinked in surprise when he reached up to the heat in his face and his fingers came back red. A frown creased his expression, his hold on the kid lessened though his still held him to keep him from freezing, but now he was more just gripping his collar as continued to stare at the blood. He’d never bleed before… His grandfather had helped him test his limits, t the point that Lukas had passed out and couldn’t get out of bed for a day but this had never happened.

“I... I didn't mean to!”

Blue eyes flickered towards the boy and held him there in his gaze for a moment before he couldn’t take it anymore. Lukas fell as the water did, continuing his rolling path as sea birds, unfrozen, reacted to the sudden appearance of the wave upon the beach, and a dog’s barking announced the boy’s dog’s surprise at the water, but the water cascaded away to reveal a socked Norwegian on his knees and breathing hard. His limbs shook and he saw stars in his eyes and he knew, he had gone too far and had strained his control. Falling back onto his bottom, squinting up at the boy, his nose still bleeding a bit but most of he blood had washed away with the wave, he breathed deeply for a bit before he said in a weak voice, “If you didn’t mean to… then take it bad, this…. Rotten luck of mine….” That was all he said before he laid back onto the sand, feeling too weak to sit up.

”Just… leave me alone,” he said, eyes half closed, trying to catch his breath.
