Gilbert had found his way to the cafeteria successfully and right on time to grab something to eat. Even though he was really bad with directions, he always seemed to be able to find wherever the food was in any situation. He called it primal instinct, others called it an offshoot of laziness.
At any rate, here he was. He'd pushed through the doors and proclaimed to the entire cafeteria "Don't worry! The awesome me has arrived!" However, it was too loud in there for anyone to even here him. No matter. He carried himself with pride over to the lunch line and grabbed a tray. When he saw the menu to order, he quickly ordered the closest thing to wurst, and that was obviously pizza. Sides were black beans and rice. Just like mom used to make.
He took his meal, along with a glass of apple juice, and turned around to find a place to sit. Gilbert was realizing very quickly that he really didn't recognize anybody here. However, he did see one particularly stern blonde that he knew right away and he strode over to sit there.
"Hey there mein bruderlein! Mind if I sit here? Alright thanks!" He didn't even give the other a chance to answer before he sat down a little too closely next to him and began eat. And talk, but mostly eat. "So how was your first day of class? Too hard? Anybody I need to beat up for you?" He teased. At this point, he couldn't even care if anybody was looking over at them or if he was embarrassing, because he was grinning ear-to-ear.
Ludwig sighed as he heard his brother enter the cafeteria and watched as he sauntered to the meal pick up. 'He's going to sit near me...I just know it...' He thought to himself. And sure enough, just as the blonde had reached a rather interesting point in his book, his big brother plopped down beside him. "Gutentag bruder." He said softly putting down the book, and sliding it away from his brother, to make sure no food particles were spilled on it. "Nein, classes weren't too difficult. I haven't had the chance to talk to anyone yet, so there is no need for violence, though I can take care of myself quite well if need be. You of all people should know that by now." He said not even turning his cerulean eyes on the albino next to him.
He had already finished his meal and had planned to visit the library once completed with the chapter he was on, but now he knew he had to place those plans on hold. He wouldn't leave his brother...not when Gilbert had no one else to sit with, or talk to...no he wouldn't abandon him like that. "How was your day?" He asked, finally looking over at the elder of the Beilschmidt's, his eyes sparkling intensely as his expression was neutral. He knew the question would allow Gil the opportunity to speak about himself, his favorite subject, and would keep him occupied until their meal was over. If Gil became too wrapped up in himself, Ludwig could simply day dream about the tales going on in his story...
Gilbert grinned as he started into his meal, immediately mixing up the beans and rice. A few stray particles got on the table, but nothing too terribly messy. Yet. Then he picked up his pizza and took a bite too large for himself, in somewhat of a way of showing off. He'd heard his brothers words and acted as though he wasn't hurt by his brother not needing him to take care of him anymore.
More irony being put into the situation by the fact that he was a sidekick and his brother was a hero. He wanted to protect his little brother, nontheless. "Come on Luddy, you know that stuff doesn't matter to me!" He smiled brightly to his brother, trying to alleviate some of the tension in the air around what seemed to be just him.
He continued to stuff his face full of the pizza and rice while he talked. It was a very charming habit of his, really. "My day was great! Skipped class with some dude! Tried a cigarrette, which was terrible, by the way. Don't ever try one of those, West. They suck." He rambled a little bit.
"Also! I took this class called Pre-Calculus today and let me just tell you! That class was the least awesome class I have ever been in in my entire life! When the hell am I ever gonne need that? It's like Algebra on meth, I swear."
He was laughing the entire time he told his story, every now and then taking swigs of his apple juice to keep himself hydrated. He enjoyed his brother's company immensely and liked talking to him, even if he was just rambling about his classes and new experiences of the day.
