The power had gone out about an hour ago but that made it only easier to watch the show. It was around 3o’clock in the morning and the majority of the students were hunkered away in their dorms and beds, sleeping and laying wide awake afraid, but at least one boy remained wide awake and active. Currently, he remained seated comfortably in a window seat, unfazed by the loss of light, for nature was providing him with more than an adequate amount. Outside raged a full out, electrifying, high-wind thunderstorm fueled by the heat of the ocean and tropics, and oh the gods of ancient Norse lore… it was beautiful. Lukas loved thunderstorms for they were truly raw displays of the awesomeness that nature held and could unleash. Plus, there was a peace within the chaos that comforted Lukas… he couldn’t explain it and never had really tried.
Another bright flash filled the sky, making it as bright as day and it had barely faded when the resounding boom blasted the sound barrier, making the Norwegian’s very core resonate with the blast. Darkness fell momentarily before the lightning storm continued and as he watched, a small smile began to play at his lips while he leaned back his head against the wood and rested his cheek against the coolness of the glass. His eyelids hung low and he knew it could be very well possible that he just might fall asleep in the window only to wake at dawn’s first light to return to his dorm. He didn’t say much to his dorm-mates at the best of occasions and to be honest, he found their antics odd but then again, he didn’t really spend a lot of his time there so… they probably hadn’t even noticed him gone.
Lukas sighed, casting a plume of condensation upon the glass and continued to watch the storm, his thoughts beginning to wonder, when he heard a small sound. Raising his head and looking back into the darkness of the room, he froze and waited if he might hear it again. It had sounded like as if someone had stepped and the wood beneath his or her feet groaned under the weight. Then again, it could just be the ferocity of the wind but nevertheless, Lukas listened before finally calling out, “Are you just going to stand there or are you going to come out?” He knew he may just be talking to air but he had a feeling that he wasn’t alone anymore. How irritating.
