`ALFRED F. JONES!
`YOU KNOW IM NOT MUCH BETTER WITHOUT YOU!
NICKNAMES Al. That’s really about it.
AGE Fourteen.
GENDER Male.
ETHNICITY 20% German, 3% Mexican, 2% Estonian, 20% English, 10% French, 15% Danish, 10% Native American, 20% Italian, 5% Dutch. 100% AMERICAN.
GRADE Freshman!
SPECIAL ABILITY(s)
Density Control: Alfred has the ability to change the density of his body. This being said, Alfred can agitate the state of the cells of his body, causing them to starting moving considerably more rapidly against one another and shrink in size somewhat. Upon doing this, he becomes lighter and more aerodynamic. However, he can only push this so far, because after a certain point, this becomes exceedingly dangerous.
As his body loses density, it becomes more fragile. His bones are much more easily broken, and just about anything can knock him over, even the slightest gust of wind, which could inevitably kill him if he were to hit the ground hard enough. By the same token however, this also allows him to float on air currents, or become transparent. Alfred knows this is within his power level and his grasp, but he has never made the attempt before as it is so dangerous that it is possible he could perish by doing so.
However, there are two sides to one coin. Where Alfred can lessen the density of his body, he can also greatly increase it as well. Doing this causes his cells to expand and thicken, the spaces in between them lessening. This allows him to gain a large amount of weight without any growth in size.
This makes it practically impossible to knock him over in this state. His bones are almost unbreakable as well. But the biggest bonus, (And quite possibly his favorite) is that his strength grows quite a bit. Because it is very hard to injure him in this state, it greatly heightens his ability to withstand weights that could normally break his bones or bring pain to him. In essence, Alfred gains a form of super strength while he is using this power.
But of course, like anything, this has its downfalls as well.
Changing the density of his body takes a lot of energy. And though Alfred seems to have plenty of that, if he goes for more than about an hour using his powers, there is likely to be a huge crash afterwards. It isn’t rare to find him asleep under a tree, or even during classes, if he had been made to use his powers beforehand. Although he is slowly learning how to conserve energy while using his powers, being a Freshman in the high school means that he has a long road ahead of him.
It is to be noted that Alfred cannot change his size. He can only change his body’s density, which basically changes his weight as well. In regards to fat content and height, his body works much the way a normal person’s does.
HOW DID THEY FIGURE OUT?
Alfred had always been a rather inquisitive young man. But when it came to outer space, Alfred was just a little too curious for his own good. So when his mother took him on a tour of a space station, nothing was stopping Alfred from sneaking into an area completely off limits to tourists. (Of course he was surprised to find the rooms unlocked.)
From this point Alfred doesn’t have much recollection, other than wandering into a bright glowing room where a series of rocks were being kept. These rocks were extremely volatile, and this is the part where Alfred’s memory is hazy, he lifted on into the air, a very small, extremely heavy one, and as a reaction to the chemicals contained within his dirty eleven year old hands, the rock began to bubble and fizz, before it exploded, knocking Alfred into a large wall and rendering him unconscious.
When he woke up, he found himself in the hospital. His body was wrapped up in bandages. The only thing he remembered was touching a bright rock, while the rest was a huge blur to him. The doctor told him that he had gotten into an accident and that he had burned himself up pretty badly. Of course the doctor mentioned that it could’ve been worse, and that Alfred was probably lucky that he managed to escape this with only minor burns.
However, his physician also delivered some bad news.
He said that since Alfred’s body was doused in a large amount of strange radioactivity there was a chance that things could get worse. And at first, it was fine, but after a month or so of returning home, Alfred began to feel very exhausted and sleepy all the time. He lost his energy to play baseball or practice his
saxophone.
His body started to become really shaky and his mom noticed how lethargic he was and when she tried to tell Alfred to get up and get some exercise he began to get defensive, telling her that he was perfectly fine and he didn’t need to see the doctor.
After his mom left him alone to throw his tantrum, Alfred plucked a baseball off of his bed and gathering all of his strength, he angrily tossed it through the wall. What was wrong with him? Was he going to die??? Those were the thoughts running through his head until the moment it came to his attention that the baseball he had tossed not only went through his bedroom wall, but it had cleared through the sliding glass in the kitchen as well.
At first he was flabbergasted about what he had done. But it didn’t take him very long to experiment with his new found super strength. Of course this freaked his mother out, but after going to the hospital many times over a month, Alfred gained his strength back and slowly and steadily began to learn more and more about his powers.
Soon he discovered that he didn’t really have super strength, but what he had was a whole new ballgame altogether.[/ul]
`YOU STOLE MY HEART THEN YOU KICKED IT ASIDE!
Baseball: Baseball is his absolute favorite sport. Of course he really loves (American) football as well, but his heart will always be with baseball. He loves the feeling of the sport and watching the games on a warm summer day while munching on a hotdog and a soda. He also loves playing and just about everything about the sport.
Hamburgers: If it wasn’t already a given, Alfred just… really loves burgers. Simple as that.
Coffee: Yummmm! Alfred tried his first sip of coffee about a year ago, and has been pretty hooked ever since. He likes putting a lot of sugar and creamer in his coffee and even though his mother tries to stop him from drinking it, he always finds himself sneaking cups from his mother’s coffee pot.
Challenges: What is better than a good challenge!? Not very much, according to this young American. Whether it is a dare, or a challenge to build something he has never made before, he is up for it. He wants everyone to see him as cool or awesome, and isn’t above a little showing off just for people to see him as so.
Superheroes: Growing up, Alfred had a huge stock of his father’s old comic books. He would spend hours reading them and getting into the characters and not to be stereotypical, but he really, really enjoyed Captain America, and ever since he found out he had powers, he has wanted to be just like him.
Cars: The faster the car, the better. He loves the look and feel of cars, especially those of the old American brands. He dreams of owning a cool old car so he can look
Money: Growing up in a fairly poor household, whenever Alfred got his hands on any kind of money, he tends to… blow it right away. Sometimes he spends it on himself, sometimes he spends it on his brother, other times he’ll waste the money on candy. He really can’t hold onto money worth crap, but when he has it, he really enjoys the power it brings him.
Dogs: Who doesn’t love man’s best friend?! Alfred absolutely adores dogs, and the bigger they are, the better. When he gets older he is determined to have a pack of dogs living with him. Or something. He is unsure of his future, just that he wants a dog that he can be best friends with.
Technology: Alfred is a technology junkie, to say the least. He craves to have the money for the latest and great innovations, but of course being who he is, he works very well with what he has, and enjoys working with his old laptop and most importantly, his old video games! Alfred loves his old video game consoles and he plays them more than he should probably.
Practical Jokes: Nothing is more fun than a harmless prank played on a friend, right? Okay some may be a bit on the mean side, but it’s all in good fun, right?!
Aliens: Alien hunting, awww yeah! When Alfred was just a little tyke, he had this obsession with the extraterrestrial. He wanted to work for Area 51 and spend his life finding aliens and studying them… or something a long that nature. Of course Alfred never lost this love, and although his dreams to be a secret alien studying agent at Area 51 have faded, he still watches sci-fi movies, and his knowledge of fictional creatures from other galaxies is quite extensive for a fourteen year old.
Music: Alfred has an exceptional love for music. There is no doubt about it. His tastes are almost as eclectic as his interests, and he can spend hours with his headset in his ears. His tastes in music extend from blues to country to jazz to classic rock, to 80s electronica. But if he had to pick his favorite, it would have to be jazz. Alfred takes saxophone lessons, and he is getting pretty good at it too!
Movies/ Cartoons: Call him a dork or a nerd or what you will, but Alfred pretty much wastes his entire summers away watching movies and playing baseball. He really loves movies and cartoons as well as TV shows, no matter how horrible they can be.
Inventing: He’s not much of an inventor to say the least. But due to his wild imagination, he comes up with insane ideas, and never stops himself from spouting them to everyone around him thinking that they are the best thing ever. Even more so if it is some kind of whacky labor saving device. People really find this aspect of him annoying, but he can’t help it.
Planes: Make no bones about it, Alfred loves heights. (Unlike my other character eue) He loves being in the mountains, but even more so, he loves flying. He dreams of flying airplanes almost as much as he dreams of being an archeologist, inventor, baseball player and a musician. In fact, he even has a collection of model airplanes that his dad built in his room!
Archaeology: Alfred was the type of kid that would dig holes in the backyard trying to find little snail shells or as he called them “dinosaur bones”. To this day he holds in interest in discovery and learning about things of old, not just finding fossils, but old cultures and artifacts.
DISLIKES
Smoking: It smells bad. It can give you lung cancer, seeing the smoke rise up into someone’s face or blowing the stuff through their nose? Alfred finds it to be one of the nastiest things ever, on top of being unattractive and dangerous, and being who he is, he’ll probably call you out if he catches you smoking too.
Alcohol: Similar to smoking, Alfred holds a bit of a grudge against alcohol consumption, even bigger when it comes to public drunkenness. He believes it to be immature and stupid and doesn’t want anything to do with it.
Veggies: Eww they taste so gross! And it isn’t even that they are healthy or anything, honest! It’s really just that he doesn’t like the taste of them… (Most of them.) He is a junk food junkie.
Bugs: He kills them if they are in weird places. He isn’t afraid of them, but he just doesn’t really like them unless they are outside.
Being Teased: He is really defensive about himself, and he knows that he can be outlandish and silly sometimes. He just wants to do what he wants, and doesn’t really enjoy being made fun of for it.
Perversion: Modesty, modesty!! He’s just a growing boy and doesn’t want to see naked people or boobs or any of that stuff! It’s so embarrassing and indecent!
Bullies: Maybe as a product of watching wayyyy too many movies, he hates people who pick on those smaller than him. He doesn’t like to see the little guy losing out, and more times than not, he’ll do his best to come to their defense. Sometimes this doesn’t always work out, and he ends up making matters worse than they were in the first place, but he means well.
Small Portions: Hey, he is a growing boy! He needs to eat food, and a lot of it! Don’t try giving him any of those crappy French portions or he’ll throw a tantrum!!
Losing: Alfred hates losing. He isn’t a bad sport about it, nor will he cheat to give himself the advantage, however, it doesn’t mean that he likes it. Sometimes he will spend days in his head mulling over his losses and how he could’ve won. Unfortunately for him, he has been losing a lot more lately than winning.
Things He Doesn’t Understand: He tries really hard. He really, really does. But there are just some things in this world he will never understand. And he doesn’t really like when he doesn’t comprehend, but it is just something that he has to live with in order to get by.
Hot Tea: He just doesn’t like the taste, and he kind of gets a bad feeling there is something sinister about the stuff. Cold tea with tons of sugar in it on the other hand is a completely different story!
Overcomplication: No need to make things super complicated when you can live a life of ease, right? (Wrong.)
Drawing: It’s not that he hates the act itself… he just hates his own drawings. He has never been much of an artist, and though he wants to be better at it, he just really doesn’t know how to get better. So stick figures and deformed faces it is!
FEARS
Ghosts: Ah come on man. The dead coming back as spirits to seek vengeance!?? That is damn scary.
Death: In a certain way, he isn’t so much afraid of dying. That would go against his stance that he is a brave soul. However, he is certainly afraid of vanishing before his time. He really wants to be remembered for doing something amazing. He wants to die with some kind of dignity, so that people always remember him.
His Powers: Someone once told him that if he isn’t careful with his powers he could become a black hole. He is a pretty gullible person most of the time, so being who he is, he took this to heart. The thought of losing himself to his powers is the scariest thing he has ever even heard of. He is even more terrified to lessen his body’s density for the same reason.
Cancer: Many people in the world share this fear, but Alfred’s level of fear is on a whole new level altogether. Since the doctor instilled the fear in him that the radioactivity could potentially give him this grave illness, he has been rather scared ever since.
QUIRKS
Glasses: He really, really does need them. He is blind as a bat and pretty much has a hard time even seeing things that are two feet in front of his face. A lot of times he will fiddle with them absentmindedly when he is thinking. He also falls asleep with them on a lot more than he should.
Insomniac: Alfred has a hard time sleeping at night. It’s probably due a bit to his slight paranoia, or even because he just never calms down. On nights that he doesn’t sleep, the crashes that come as a result of him using his powers are even harder and last longer. Surprisingly enough to many people, he is a very light sleeper, and is a definite morning person.
Loud Laugh: He laughs loudly anytime anyone criticizes him or when he doesn’t understand something. It’s mostly just a confused laugh, but sometimes he also laugh because he believes the other party to be joking with him when they really aren’t… Needless to say, a lot of people don’t enjoy this habit of his. He laugh tends to be pretty grating too.
Study Habits: This doesn’t really count as a quirk so much, but Alfred has terrible study habits… but much too many of his fellow student’s chagrins he gets pretty stellar grades. How this happens no one really knows, but it does, and it happens a lot.
OVERALL PERSONALITY[/b]
To start things off, although Alfred doesn’t want to admit it, he is quite paranoid. He sometimes gets the feeling that he is being watched, or that someone is after him. On top of that, there are times when he feels as though his friends are talking trash about him behind his back and all, and although he would never know if they were. (Not that would he even notice if his friends were holding things against him, because of his inability to read a situation.)
Alfred likes to think that he is the funniest guy alive when really, most people just find him to be a nuisance. But Alfred’s true humor stems from the fact that he is a complete and total imbecile. He can’t read an atmosphere worth anything, and his massive amounts of pride in the things that he does often makes situations troubling for himself. He is clumsy and silly and loves to make others laugh, but more times than not it is at the expensive of his dignity, which there isn’t much left of in the first place.
Another thing to note about Alfred, is that he is very proud. Even of his completely ridiculous ideas, that he knows are silly, receive a certain degree of pride from him. He knows that he can be a goof as well as an oaf but he is happy about that. He believes that it makes him more likeable, when in actuality most people seem to just think that he is annoying. But his pride is hard to dampen, and his enthusiasm for well…himself, is something that’ll probably never go away.
Besides the fact that his pride is hard to dampen, probably the biggest reason that it is, is because he is insanely oblivious. He hardly ever notices little jabs at his attitude or disposition, or anything to be honest. He cannot tell how others are feeling in the slightest, unless they are very obviously displaying their emotions outwardly. He is very aware of how he is too, but he doesn’t do anything to change it… mostly because he doesn’t know how.
Alfred will believe almost anything you tell him. But not because he is stupid, no it is far from that. He is very gullible in the sense that he wants to believe the best from people. He wants to believe what people tell him, even if they are outward lies. He doesn’t exactly have the best judgment when it comes to the balancing of his sense of justice and paranoia, and his want to believe the best in people. Although his slight feelings of paranoia do not get in the way of his everyday life, his gullibility does. It makes him an easy target for pranks and the like, even though most of the time he hardly even notices, so it isn’t even that fun to prank him anyway. (Sorry Ana 8( )
Alfred is constantly poking his nose into the business of others. He doesn’t mean it, but to be honest, he just really likes to know what is going on around him. If it gives him a chance to help people, or to correct them in some way or the other, but no matter how misguided he can be, he will continue with this habit. He just really wants to do good, but it doesn’t always work out quite right.
Alfred enjoys looking manly to his friends. He doesn’t really show it much to his friends, as he lacks a sense of shame, but if there is a chance he can be the muscle that someone needs, he won’t hesitate to do so.
Alfred is very, very energetic. He is so energetic in fact, that sometimes it drives people away. This young American does everything to the fullest with as much optimism as possible. This is all natural energy as well, and putting Alfred near something that would boost his energy levels, such as coffee (as much as he likes it) or energy drinks, might be a terrible idea, if you don’t want a hyperactive energy ball bouncing off of the walls.
Despite his energy and lacking of common sense, Alfred is actually very intelligent. He doesn’t have to work too hard to get good grades. He is naturally good with multitasking and technology, and his memory is pretty good as well, so literally it doesn’t take much effort on his part to do well in school.
He is a huge airhead. And though he may be very good at multitasking and whatnot, if he gets bored he will space out and turn his attentions towards his inner thoughts, completely not realizing what people are saying to him. It’s not his fault people don’t know how to be not boring!!
Helpful. Alfred tries his darndest to be as helpful as he can. Although he always has the best intentions, often times his help is unneeded or completely misguided. Other times it is because of his own faults that he wants to fix, or sometimes the person actually does need and want his help. But whatever the cause, he just really wants to help people all the time.
Although he is a pretty hard worker when he feels like it, or once he gets going, Alfred is quite lazy. When he is relaxing at home, that is all he wants to do. He wants to relax and watch movies and read comics without being bothered with cleaning and the like, and sadly enough he has become known as a bit of a slob, but that is life!
Finally, Alfred is a bit of a dreamer. He has a lot of aspirations in life, and he really, really wants to see them through. He wants to be rich when he grows up, he wants a lot of friends, he wants to be famous, those kinds of things. And to be honest, his energy and excitement towards things (when he isn’t relaxing at home) will very much help him earn his stripes one of thee days.

`WHEN HE’S INSIDE YOU KNOW THERES NO ROOM FOR ME!
[/font]As Alfred entered the center of the room, a calm silence befell the entire classroom. It was the kind of silence that was rare for a freshman class full of beefed up super heroes to be. Whatever the class was surprised about, Alfred was almost ninety nine point nine percent certain that the new cast he was sporting on his broken arm was the cause of the class’s quiet awe.
But the quiet didn’t last long before the class rumors began to spread like wildfire.
“So he was the freshman that broke his bones.”
“I should’ve known it was him.”
“I heard he fell out of a tree!!”
Okay, so never mind that he was standing right there and could hear these other students as clear as day, but on top of it all they got it all wrong!! It wasn’t a tree he fell out of.. geez!! Plus didn’t these students have anything better to gossip about that wasn’t his stupid broken arm?? They should be gossiping about the crappy cafeteria spaghetti! Man even he who ate almost everything thought that that stuff was vile.
Alfred cleared his throat loudly, causing the class to look up at the boy with the broken arm standing before them.
“Guys. I didn’t break my arm falling from a tree… I was practicing using my powers and uh…” He scratched the top of his awkwardly, “Someone bumped into me and my… arm broke!!”
Wow. The room fell dead silent before the class erupted in laughter. What a joke. What kind of power did he have anyway?! Must’ve been a really stupid power, hunh!?
Yeah… It was pretty stupid alright. Alfred chuckled along with them, before sliding into his seat towards the front of the room. It was going to be a long year at this rate.. hunh?
