Mein Gott, I'm stuck with you?(Germany and Czech)

It was one of those dreary, rainy days and Vaclav was running late. He was told that he should meet up with someone when he got to school. A certain Ludwig Beilschmidt(Right?). Unfortunately, he wasn't sure who this person was. Where should he start looking?

Well, first things first, he should get inside and out of the rain. He quickly did so, rather grateful to be out of the storm. The ice thing was it was a warm rainfall, at least. Not like the cold ones he'd be getting in his home country about this time of the year. Actually, he was most likely to be getting snow. He did rather miss the sight, to be honest. His mind drifted off as he began to daydream about his home country. He really did miss it already, but he couldn't let that get him down. After all, he was going to be here for a long time. That and he was curious to learn more about himself and what he was. Why he could tell an item's past... Why he could transform and become something wolf like in nature... So many questions, and he was told this place may provide him with some answers. After all, everyone here was gifted or somehow different from "normal" people. That was one thing he was looking forward to... Meeting unique people.

The Czech Republican stepped in the door and shook off some of the rain that had now managed to drench him. Now to find the person he was told to go look for.

His light blue optics scanned the halls as he began to search. Honestly, how was he expected to find anyone in this huge sea of people? Especially someone with blond hair and blue eyes. Those weren't exactly uncommon traits. What else was he told about this guy? He was German, and... What else? Gruff on the outside, perhaps? Apparently, he was supposed to be his guide for at least the first day of school so he could get a better feel of the building.

However, in his thoughts, he managed to fall right into a certain someone. He gave a small 'oof!' as he felt his body collide with the other's. "Ah, I'm sorry..." He spoke, lightly rubbing the back of his neck as e looked up at the other.(Well, the other was a tad bit taller than him, though not by a whole lot.) Wait... Blonde hair... Blue eyes... Gruff exterior. "Excuse me, but are you Ludwig? I'm Vaclav. It's good to meet you." He stuck out his hand to offer a hand shake.

There were times in his life when Ludwig Beilschmidt absolutely despised the choices he made. Despite the fact that he almost always made them with the best judgment he could, there were times when, directly afterward he’d immediately regret the decision wondering how on earth he could’ve thought that it was okay. Today was a very, very good example of that.

He had signed up for the student council advisory and part of their job was to introduce new students to other students, and show them around the school and all of that. The worst part of it all, was that today was a weekend, and on top of that, it was a rainy weekend, and honestly, who wanted to go out on a weekend such as this? Ludwig had better things to do than get himself drenched and wait around for a student he wouldn’t even be able to point out in a police line-up.

Who wanted to waste their weekends away showing a clueless new student around in the rain? Yes, this was where the regret came in. Regret for ever having volunteered to be a good Samaritan.

But what happened, happened and Ludwig knew that he should've been a good sport about it. Heck the student government even baked a batch of gingerbread cookies for both him and the student to munch on while they were touring the now soggy school grounds. Ludwig glanced at the cookies once again, slightly wondering if he could just give them over to the student and have things done with...

No! No that wasn't an option. He was German... He didn't do anything halfway if he could help it. And in this circumstance, it certainly wasn't an option. He'd just have to suffer through this and maybe at the end he'd even have a new friend. It wasn't like he had too many friends anyway... Other than his uh... Interesting sidekick Piper, the Lithuanian kid who went by the name of Toris, and a young girl from Liechtenstein named Eva. Of course Ludwig had no shortage of siblings but... As for friends, he didn't really have too many of them.

Sighing lightly, Ludwig adjusted the cookies in his arms, shaking off the thoughts of what a large lacking of friends he had and he pulled his newly freed wrist up to his face. It was 12:17. Which meant that the other person was running two minutes late. Ludwig shook his head sadly. He hated waiting sometimes. He knew he always tried to arrive to his destinations early to leave the other person a cushion of time in case they wanted to arrive early, but he hated tardiness. Whether it was five minutes or two minutes late, people should be prepared. So where on earth was this other student?!

However, just as Ludwig began to wonder if the other student had gotten into a fight or gotten lost, someone rammed into him at almost full force, which sent his plate full of cookies flying high into the air and crashing one by one to the ground. The German's eyes widened slightly as he looked at his mess of cookies then back to the new student.

"Yes. I'm Ludwig Beilschmidt. It’s a pleasure to meet you... Vaclav." Ludwig was frustrated that the school was so disorganized that they had failed to give him the name of the new student or even what grade he was in, so now it was time to play twenty questions in order to get the basic formalities out o the way.

And even then, he honestly could've learned all of Vaclav's information if he took his gloves off and even so much as brushed across the others bare skin with his own. But he knew that doing that would've maybe creeped the other student out... And not only that, Ludwig rather enjoyed getting to know people the way regular people did. It was a change of pace, a change of pace that he liked.

“Nice to meet you.” He flipped out his hand suddenly, “I’d like to know what grade you are entering into, your powers, your class, and your interests… after we clean up this mess of cookies.” With that, the German bent over and began to scoop the cookies onto the plate that, thankfully hadn’t broken as it hit the ground.

Vaclav winced slightly, watching the tray of cookies in Ludwig's arms clatter to the ground, resulting it cookies all over the floor, but thankfully, no broken tray. Now he felt especially clumsy. "I'm terribly sorry about this." He spoke, stooping down to help the German clean up the cookies. However, it seemed he pretty much had things under control. Furthermore, he wasn't sure if assisting him in this matter would upset him further. It wasn't anything personal against the German, mind you, he just didn't know exactly what type of temperament he had yet. Some people welcomed help with ope arms, while others were embarrassed, even snippy towards those who offered help, especially when the one offering it was the cause of the situation requiring clean up. However, when he suggested that they both clean up the mess, he began helping to pick up the cookies.

Once they were cleaned up, he stood up once more, dusting his hands off on his pants until no remains of cookie crumbs were left on them. It wasn't that he didn't like cookies, he loved them, really. It was just the fact that he didn't like his hands being dirty, if he could help it. What was the first question? Ludwig had had several of them for him. Ah, yes, grade, powers, class... What did he mean by class exactly? Like, if he was a sidekick or a hero? And lastly, his interests. Seemed to be basic formalities.

"Well, let's see... I'm in eleventh grade, I have animal mimicry." He paused. "I can take on the characteristics of a wolf when I'm provoked, as in claws and fangs. I try not to use it unless I absolutely have to, however." He rubbed the back of his neck slightly. "See, I'm not really in complete control of myself when this happens. It's the main reason why I ended up here. However, I do have a second ability. Psychometry. Basically, I can tell an item or place's past by touching it. However, I have to have been there at least once before." He debated for a moment on how much information was too much information to tell right away. After all, he didn't want to startle his guide. Nor did he want to reveal too much about himself right away. Then again, everyone was a little different in this school. Also, it seemed that his companion was at least friendly enough. "I'm a sidekick. To be honest, I rather enjoy that fact. I'd probably be better off hanging around someone more than being in the spotlight all the time. I'd imagine the life of a hero can be rather tiring at times."

Last, his interests. He paused for a moment, seeming to think things through a bit before responding. "I like reading and writing for one thing. I also like music, especially rock. What else..." He trailed off a bit. "Oh! I also really love animals. I guess one might say they're in my blood a bit." He chuckled softly. "I also like artwork, though some of my favorite pieces may be a bit strange to someone. I also like collecting little trinkets and pieces of jewelry. In fact..." He rummaged through his pockets before pulling out a silver necklace with a black skull pendent and red gems in the eye sockets. "I found this at the airport at home. However, I want you to keep it." He gave a small smile. "Let's just say it's a thank you for guiding me around."

The German narrowed his eyes at the student, his eyebrow cocked slightly. Their powers seemed to be a bit similar, (Except for the wolf thing, it seemed.) and Ludwig found himself smiling slightly in spite of it. Although his powers were much more potent in this category, not exactly allowing him to know the past, but rather exactly what the item was made of, all of it's flaws, and if it was a book, he would be able to know everything there was inside of it. Heck it was quite hard for him to understand the exact amount of knowledge he gained when he touched something, but that was the reason that the young German wore his gloves.

Ludwig listened as the other introduced himself, continuing to scoop cookies up off of the ground, and the time they were finished, and the hero was dumping the last bit of crumbs into the trashcan, the other student had finished his introduction and was passing him a small pendant of some kind. Ludwig felt bit bad for not wanting to do this as he scooped the thing into his hand. It was a bit strange that the new student was presenting him with a-a skull pendant?

"Thank you." Ludwig nodded his appreciation without questioning the object. It was a rather kind gesture, even if the object itself was eater strange. He then pocketed the object and continued with their conversation, deciding that he would have to return the favor himself later.

"Interesting..." Ludwig nodded matter-of-factly, "Why does it matter how many times you've touched it?" Ludwig didn't know why he was asking the question, it wasn't as if he could really explain the exact reason why his powers worked the way they did, and why he could only tell an items past if he touched a flaw or a scratch, and even then it was only that part of the item's history and nothing else.

"Yes, being a hero can be quite exhausting at times. The training requires much patience and there is little room for error." The German sighed, remembering about how, as a freshman, he was quite thin and rather timid, finding the hero training to be quite above his level. Heck, most of the time he even wondered why he became a hero in the first place. But being the person he was, he knew that really wouldn't have worked out for him very well. But over time the German managed to beef up and lose his previous timid nature.

"Have you found a hero yet?" Of course Ludwig had a sidekick of his own, a young woman by the name of Piper. He was quite fond of her, despite her tendencies to be... well... a troublemaker. Not only that, but her habits to sort of use him as a jungle gym. Sometimes he wondered how he ended up with an artsy girl such as herself as his sidekick but to be quite frank, he was sure he wouldn't have it any other way, "Well I'm not sure if the school would have assigned you a hero so early... But I'm sure you'll find someone perfect for you." 

With that being said, Ludwig began to lead to the other around the school, feeling the need to get out of the main hallway where a bunch of other students could watch a get ingrained in their heads the idea that the German was a messy cookie-waster. 

"So you like animals?" Ludwig asked as they entered the science wing, "I have three dogs myself at home... very lovely creatures they are. Sweet and loving." It was true that although the German didn't seem like the type, he did enjoy the company of animals. Especially some healthy, well-behaved dogs.

Ludwig decided to keep his personal information to himself as he continued down the hallway, "This is the science wing... Yes indeed there are more explosions here than you could ever imagine." Of course none of those explosions were ever from him... for the most part...

Vaclav watched his guide's reaction to his first words, and was a bit curious as to what his reaction had meant. Was he confused? Surprised? It was hard to tell really. However, he left it be since the other didn't really act upon his reactions. As far as the Czech Republican was concerned, if one's actions weren't a cause for concern, and they did not seem to want to discuss their feelings, it wasn't his business what went on in another person's mind.

A small smile traced across the Czech Republican's face as the other thanked him for his gift. "It's no trouble at all." He watched as the other pocketed his gift. Well, at least he seemed willing to keep the object. Wonderful. The last thing he wanted to do was spook his guide so fast.

However, the blonde's first question caused the raven haired teen to pause and think a little. Honestly, he really never thought of why he could only see an item's past if he had had previous experience with it. Really, he wasn't sure at all. In fact, he didn't even understand why he had this ability or any of his abilities at all.

"I'm afraid I honestly never thought of it before, and I'm not really sure I can answer your question." He paused, forming an educated guess. "I suspect it might be because I gain a sense of familiarity with an object or place if I have visited it before, but honestly, I don't know for certain if that's the reason at all. To be perfectly honest, I can't really explain a lot of why I'm the way I am. I suppose it might be genes overall." But if that was the case, then why didn't the rest of his family ever hear voices from inanimate objects? Why didn't they gain wolf like characteristics when threatened? Why could they not tell an item's past? Obviously, genes were not the answer to the question, but what better answer could he give the other? After all, he barely even understood his own abilities. How on Earth could he explain them? Thankfully, this school was here to hopefully allow him to make sense of the matter. However, that didn't matter near as much to him as gaining control of an ability that was potentially harmful to other people. He'd make sense of his psychometry later.

He listened to the other speak of being a hero and the training involved. It seemed to allow for very little time to relax in all reality. It did seem to be a difficult path to take, but at the same time, it helped the other gain a sort of appreciation for the German and all the other heroes in this school.

The young man gave a nod in response to his guide's question. "Yes, I do have a hero. Or at least, I strongly suspect I know who they will be. He's one of my roommates." Ah, Gilbert. Truth be told, despite the other's energetic and sometimes loud personality, Vaclav rather enjoyed the other's company. He was fun to be around, really, and there was hardly ever a dull moment in the dorms so long as he was around. That and, strange as it sounded, considering they had really only just met one another, he felt that somehow they both had gained a mutual respect for one another. Well, in any case, he hadn't begged for a new roommate the day that Vaclav ran into his night stand and began conversing with it, stating apologies and expressing that no, he did not wish to fight an inanimate object. Looking back, the Czech Republican had to admit that whole display was more than a little embarrassing.

In any case, the Raven haired teen decided to answer to the German's final statement involving finding a hero. "You know, this may sound strange, and really, I haven't known anyone here for very long, but I feel that somehow the school made a very good choice in choosing a hero for me. It's rather strange. Our personalities are pretty much the exact opposite, but we get along rather well. I suppose the old saying opposites attract would apply to this situation."

He followed after his guide as they continued to speak to one another. Yet again, a small smile traced across the teen's face as he listened to the other speak. "Ah, you have dogs?" Dogs were such lovely creatures, and among his personal favorites. Something about their loyalty and the fact they never judged you no matter what really made them appealing. In some ways, he found dogs to be better than humans, not that he hated humans, mind you. It was just the fact that dogs didn't seem to need to hide things. They were purely what they seemed to be. That and it was so much rarer to find a unlikable dog rather than a unlikable human.

His emerald green optics looked around as he was lead through the halls of the school. This place was really big, and there was almost too much to take in all at once. Well, he'd take it one little bit at a time. After all, he had a lot of time to learn about this place. For now, he'd accept it for the adventure it was. He doubted he'd be bored exploring this place for a long time, if ever. He wondered what might be in store, but he didn't worry too much about it. Still, his nerves were up just a tad.

Once they reached the Science wing, Vaclav stopped and started to look around a bit. This place was fascinating. He couldn't help but chuckle a bit at Ludwig's remark. "I can imagine this school in general is known for its fair share of explosions." The more he thought of this place, the more he wanted to explore it. He could feel the curiosity of his mind taking over slowly but surely. Whatever today held, it was sure to be interesting.

Ludwig nodded his head slightly. He supposed that made sense. Man though, if his powers worked that way, things would probably be so much easier for him. Of course, they more than likely wouldn't be as powerful as they were, nor would he have made it into the classification that he was in, but maybe then he wouldn't have to wear gloves everywhere he went either.

"I see..." Ludwig nodded politely and continued to work his way down the science wing, watching as the large science labs soon began to evolve into smaller rooms more suited for math classes and computer courses.

"Powers can be hard to understand Vaclav. Some people do not even gain control of them until they are much older or even throughout their entire life, and they prove to be more of a hindrance than an actual help." Ludwig was not exactly sure where this knowledge had come from, probably from some book that Gilbert had thrown at him when Ludwig demanded that he should probably start studying for class. Or maybe he had learned it in class itself...

"If I am correct, there is a science teacher in this school who still creates some pretty intense explosions when he sneezes... I myself have never seen or witnessed it, but my Danish... uh, friend... told me that the teacher sent this cloud of purple smoke all around the room." Mathias Andersen was a hero in his grade who was of similar stature and height to him, so they often had quite a few training classes together, and Mathias could be quite the obnoxious chatterbox, but in the long run, he was quite the interesting, and enlightening individual, even though it did take a lot of patience to be around him… at least he always had stories to tell.

The German paced forwards a bit and pointed out a sign that had the words written in a strange multicolored font that almost seemed to be from the 1980s. Knowing this school, Ludwig wouldn’t have doubted the sign being from that long ago. The sign read, “Welcome to Math Street!” on it, which may have been quite lame, but it was definitely useful in showing the new kids around the building.

He ignored the hero and sidekick conversation for a moment, in order to tell Vaclav where they were, even though Ludwig was quite sure that Vaclav knew where they were.

“This is the math hallway. You may have not have heard about too many explosions happening here.” Ludwig coughed, “Although my older brother Gilbert has probably managed to make things explode here quite a few times.” Ah Gilbert. His older brother. The older brother who most would never believe was related to Ludwig until they found out how much the both of them could drink without getting drunk. His trouble making, obnoxious, loud older brother, who he both loved and hated all at the same time.

“Usually the explosions happen in the training areas. I’d advise staying away from those areas unless you absolutely have to go there. Especially where the hero classes are located. Although lately sidekick classes have gotten pretty bad as well.” He glanced around him, and stopped in place, giving Vaclav a moment to check out the surroundings.

He was surprised at how well he was talking and the ease at which he was doing it. Maybe he had found a future friend in Vaclav? The German had never really been all that great at talking with ease when surrounded by others, but maybe because Vaclav was turning out to be quite the good guy, Ludwig was having a easy time talking to him.

Maybe joining the student advisory wasn’t a bad idea after all.

Vaclav looked around the rooms and areas he was introduced to, taking note of as much detail as he could. After all, it was good to have this chance to absorb the locations a bit. It was better than him being at his first day of school and having no idea whatsoever what was going on or where he was. One thing he was beginning to notice about this school was that it was quite large.

He listened carefully as he was being told what to expect and what to look out for, taking extra notes of areas where he might accidentally be put in the crossfire of explosions. Number one, that sounded quite painful, but number two, he also had a better sense of hearing due to his main ability than most people. Needless to say, he really wasn't relishing the idea of being too close to an explosion, if he could help it. Of course, with various abilities and a large amount of people, he wasn't sure how unlikely one was.

"All right, so, avoid the Science hall, unless I have class there, and the training areas, unless I have to go there. I think that's easy enough to remember." When the thought of training crossed his mind, he began to think of his ability and the fact he was trying to gain better control of it. Ludwig had said to avoid the training areas, and he wasn't about to go wandering off into intentional danger. However, there was a good chance that he would try to get in at some point. After all, what good would his visit be if he wasn't trying to improve and make himself safer around other people?

The Czech Republican thought for a moment, wondering if his guide might have some sort of advice. It was strange, but something about the other made him want to talk to him. Normally, this didn't happen unless he knew them for quite some time. It wasn't that he was unfriendly, he was just a little socially awkward. "So, I'm trying to gain better control of my abilities. It's the main reason why I was sent here. Do you have any advice on how to do that?"

"All right, so, avoid the Science hall, unless I have class there, and the training areas, unless I have to go there. I think that's easy enough to remember."

“Correct.” Ludwig nodded, a fleeting sense of pride passing over him at how quickly his 'pupil' was getting the hang of things around the school.

Everything that the other student was saying seemed more than smart and accurate enough for the German. Which was good, because Ludwig held a firm belief in that if a student seemed competent enough outside of class, then they were probably going to succeed in the classroom as well. Which was more than he could say for his brother, that was for sure. He was even beginning to wonder if this student needed him at all! Sure the school was big and it wasn’t very hard to get lost, but with a good map and a good head on his shoulders, Ludwig was quite certain that Vaclav wouldn’t have a very hard time trying to get around.

Ludwig continued to work his way down the hall, deeming various classrooms not really important enough to point out to the other, so he continued onwards, trying to think of the next best place he could head to from here. Thinking about it, the cafeteria was quite close. That was usually a pretty good place to show to the new students. Ludwig could remember having to help one of his roommates find it multiple times when he was a freshman. Not that he himself had ever been lost in the school. He just wasn’t the type to get lost.

The German bit his lips slightly, only to have Vaclav change the subject completely.

"So, I'm trying to gain better control of my abilities. It's the main reason why I was sent here. Do you have any advice on how to do that?"

Well, of course Vaclav wanted to get better control over his powers, that was what the school itself was here for after all. However, coming in the middle of what would’ve made his second year meant that he had missed out on quite a large amount of vital training. This was the training that would make it easier for the school to match him up with a partner best suited for his needs.

Which thinking back on it now, was strange because Ludwig wasn’t exactly sure if his partner could really even be considered the perfect match for him. Even though the school deemed their powers to be a perfect match, (the reason they were matched up despite Ludwig being a senior and her a freshman.) Ludwig sometimes wondered if they weren’t even trying to take compatibility into consideration. But he supposed he did have a level of admiration for the girl.

But shrugging that aside, he turned to the other and formulated his words a moment before he thought of something good to say.

“Not many teachers here will know much about your powers in specific. I can’t think of any other students that can take on the qualities of a wolf when provoked or that have the power of psychometry. You did state that you could not see the item’s history unless you had been around the item before, so you need to work on becoming more familiar with your powers.”

Ludwig realized he still couldn’t even control his powers, really. Or else he wouldn’t even be stuck wearing these ridiculous gloves all the time.

“Talk to some other students too. I know a few people who transform into animals. An animal like a wolf is probably a bit harder to tame than some of the others, but I’m sure there is a student or teacher out there who would prove to be helpful to you. You may also find the library helpful as well.”
Ludwig frowned. He honestly wished he could’ve been more helpful.

“I wish I could provide with more information, but you’re a sidekick and to be quite frank, I don’t even really know the extent of my own powers…”

Vaclav was beginning to feel a bit of relief wash over him as he realized how easily he was beginning to understand how this school worked. It was still a new place and he was still a bit nervous, all tings concerned. After all, everyone here had their own special abilities and he didn't know what to expect from anyone. Not yet, at least. On the bright side, however, his guide seemed to be very kind and helpful. At least that was a plus. He now had a familiar, friendly face that he could recognize. After all, he was a long ways from Prague. A long ways from his home.

The Czech walked right behind the German, making sure to keep up with his pace. He found himself looking into the classrooms that they passed, trying his best to form a mental map of this place. It wasn't as if he was too prideful to ask for directions in case he were to get lost, but he didn't want to be an inconvenience to anyone. That and he wanted to learn how to at least find his way around the place. He might not have the best control of his powers, and maybe his mental state was a little off, but that didn't mean that he couldn't show he was capable of acting like a normal, somewhat competent and responsible teenager. Ok, so maybe not "normal",but who was really normal? That word had never made the slightest sense.

Oh, and now he was daydreaming again and letting his thoughts run away from him. Well, at least the objects they were passing had thus far chosen to be a little quiet. Thank goodness.

However, when Ludwig answered his question, he listened intently. It seemed he was a bit of a unique case, though not completely unheard of. Well, that wasn't a bad thing, was it? After all, everyone was different in one way or another.

Ok, so, first thing's first. He had to get a better understanding of his abilities. After that he would work on whatever he needed to do from there. Nothing undoable, but it would require a lot of hard work. Hard work he was ready to put into his studies. He gave a nod and responded. "I understand."

Ludwig felt a small smile form in spite of himself. This other student… he had a feeling that maybe they could be good friends. It was always nice to meet a student who was sensible and that Ludwig could call a friend. It wasn’t very often that the German boy made new friends. Outside of his partner and his brother he didn’t have very many. But not that it mattered. He was just happy to be doing his job of showing new students around the school.

“Well. I guess I should take you back now…” Ludwig glanced at his watch. He had some things he needed to attend to in a bit, such as homework, and a club meeting, “It is getting late. You should return directly to your dorm, and become acquainted with our other roommate. Their names are Tino and Iain. You should certainly speak with Tino. He is new as well.” The German nodded curtly.

He was very pleased at who he shared his dorm with. He never stated it outwardly of course, but both Iain and Tino were rather nice students who really didn’t cause a lot of commotion. Even more so at night, when it was quiet and he could either unwind and relax, or continue on his studies. He really enjoyed it.

All too often he had heard horror stories of the students who got stuck in dorms with overly affectionate couples or rowdy students whose personalities completely clashed with their own. Ludwig was just happy to be in a dorm with more passive, or rather, quiet students who tended to mind their own business. He felt bad for anyone who had to dorm with that goofy Danish student he had come to know quite well in more recent days.

“It was a pleasure getting to know you Vaclav, I do look forward to spending more time with you very soon.” He nodded his head, and decidedly flipped open his schoolbag to pluck out a piece of paper, “Here call this or drop me a text message if you need anything while I’m out of the dorm. I’m usually very punctual about getting back to people.”

He used the wall to write the number down in his small blocky handwriting, before he passed the paper onwards to Vaclav.
