Today was the day.
Alfred's hands were slipped into the pocket of his jeans in an attempt to minimize the amount of jittering his body was doing. Not having his hands present to turn about in unending flips didn't seem to really help, however -- not when he could just as easily tap his foot in an impatient motion. Physically getting out his excited and anticipation was one way to do things, but it made him look like he was doing the bathroom dance.
After his last partnership -- which hadn't worked out so well -- Alfred had decided he wanted some freedom in his own decision to choose a person he wanted to be partners with. A few people had immediately jumped into mind at the prospect, but unfortunately they were still in perfectly functioning partnerships. Which was disappointing, of course, but it was good that they had partners they got along with.
But it just so happened that a certain Ivan Braginsky also seemed to be partnerless during this time. Alfred would have to be an idiot not to seize this opportunity; one where he had a chance to partner up with his sort-of-maybe-actual crush that he had liked for several months now, and get closer to him. Yes. It was perfect. Flawless. Oh yes.
The plan so far had worked out fine -- confirmation of the proposed partnership was received quickly. This would be the first time he and Ivan hung out as partners instead of just friends, and Alfred was eager. The meeting place was to be the courtyard; he had gotten their a little bit earlier than the arranged meeting time and claimed a picnic bench.
He glanced at his watch -- Ivan should be here in any minute now. Taking a look around for the nth time, Alfred checked the immediate surrounding areas for any approaching tall Russians. He sighed, not seeing any, and slumped over onto the table. No such luck yet.
