Mathias stared at the sign he had made. It was really stupid and ugly, and showed his complete and utter lack of technological skill. But for now it was the best he could do. The swim team was lacking this year. Well.. actually they had been lacking for multiple years. In fact, ever since his freshman year, the Asher Academy swim team had been absolutely terrible.
Which was saying something considering the school was a school full of super-powered kids competing against regular high school kids. Of course powers were strictly forbidden from being used, but for some strange reason that still didn't stop a lot of kids from trying to... and that was exactly why their team sucked.
Mathias' powers couldn't help him swim, but other people's could, and the second the Coach found out... they were booted. It wasn't fair to cheat, and Mathias knew that. In fact he hated cheaters! But was it really a good idea to kick them off? Maybe it was.. once a cheater, always a cheater he supposed. He just couldn't help but wonder sometimes.
Taking a sigh, the Dane turned on his heel and began to walk down the hallway so he could post up another sign.
He had to do the best he could, right? Maybe putting up crappy made signs wasn't the best way to do things, but he had to do everything he could... and people didn't usually like when he was forceful about it..
Alfred was eager to join a sports team. He was already part of a few clubs, but he had the mindset that one could never join too many activities. The more, the merrier! He had perused the teams Asher Academy had listed on the bulletin board; there were a good amount of them. Basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer... There were so many options, he didn't know what he could possibly choose!
He had noticed a lot of the teams were very eager to recruit members, and Alfred was just the guy for the job. He was prepared to do pretty much any sport, honestly, and was thinking about signing up for more than one once he could decide what he wanted to do.
Track and field, lacrosse, swimming... Alfred perked up with a smile. Swimming -- that sounded awesome! He loved swimming for fun, and competitively, oh man -- he could just imagine. The feeling of jumping into the water in the pool at the beginning was always the most fun. Doing tricks off the diving board too.
He scanned the poster for information: Your Asher Academy Swim Team is looking for new members! Practice for the Spring Season starts next month! Please find Mathias Andersen or Coach Thompson for more information! Help turn our team into a winning team!"
Huh, interesting. Mathias Andersen -- the name was familiar, wasn't he a 7th year? Alfred scratched his head absentmindedly, glancing down the hallway. To his surprise, there was a tall guy with even taller hair putting up posters. He approached in his direction, curious; only to realize he was the one putting up the swim team posters.
His timing couldn't be better! Alfred grinned, and bounced over towards him. "Hey! You're on the swim team, yeah? Where do I sign up?"

Mathias was almost done posting signs in the math building when he was approached by a blonde-haired student who seemed to be quite excited about something or the other. That was good, because Mathias was excited as well! After all, he was recruiting for his beloved swim team!
"Hey! You're on the swim team, yeah? Where do I sign up?"
Mathias grinned back at the other boy. This was the most exciting thing he had heard all day! He didn't even think people took the time to look at these posters! He just hoped that the boy could swim decently... although it wasn't that important. He could always teach him how to swim better once he joined.
"Yep! I'm actually the captain of the swim team! It's nice to meet you!"
Mathias held up the stack of signs he had been posting so that Alfred could see them clearly, and he pointed to his name.
"I'm Mathias Andersen, so you came to the right place! I carry around the paperwork for the team since I'm in charge of recruiting new people, so we can fill it out together while I ask you some stuff, alright?"
The Dane could only grin at what was transpiring right before his eyes. He really loved the ideas of new members, and even though he wasn't originally the captain of the team he could only be happy that he was now. This was probably the best thing that had happened to him since he had started dating Antonio!
He was going to bring the team to new heights, he could just feel it.
"We're going to discuss what swim style you want to develop and what races you'll want to compete in and all of that, I personally prefer backstroke, but I've always wanted to compete in a medley relay! Maybe you could join in if we get enough people interested, what do you say?"
"Yep! I'm actually the captain of the swim team! It's nice to meet you!"
Oh wow, so this was Mathias Andersen himself! Looks like Alfred had gotten lucky, managing to actually have the opportunity to stop and talk to the captain himself too. Although, the title of captain usually brought implications of strictness of rules and such, but the other student seemed to be friendly and cheerful enough -- the kind of guy who is easily the out-going and enthusiastic friend people always have. It reminded Alfred of his own personality, and he started to get even more excited that the coach seemed like such an awesome person already.
"I'm Mathias Andersen, so you came to the right place! I carry around the paperwork for the team since I'm in charge of recruiting new people, so we can fill it out together while I ask you some stuff, alright?" Alfred bounced on his heels, nodding as the upperclassman continued. "We're going to discuss what swim style you want to develop and what races you'll want to compete in and all of that, I personally prefer backstroke, but I've always wanted to compete in a medley relay! Maybe you could join in if we get enough people interested, what do you say?"
"Sure, that sounds great!" He beamed, unable to keep still. This was going to be a lot of fun -- hopefully he'd be able to make some more friends, and recruit some of his current ones to join too. He could already think of a few people to ask; Arthur, Ivan, Francis... There were plenty who he could try to convince to join.
"A medley relay, awww yeah! I've wanted to try competing in one of those too, oh man," he grinned back. "Backstroke is pretty awesome! Though, for me personally... I only swim free!" Alfred flashed a peace sign, unable to stifle his laughter. It had become a sort of inside joke from when he was younger with his friends when he swam -- some good ol' American nationality was never a bad thing! He hoped Mathias would get the joke, but even if he didn't, it didn't really matter; it was still technically the truth. Alfred did prefer the front crawl to most other techniques, and swimming free-style just had a nice ring to it.

Seeing someone so excited about his beloved swim team could only make the Dane grin. In fact, the American's youthful energy actually reminded him of his own. Except for that he was definitely younger than Mathias. But this only excited him more. His team needed new young members that were excited for the sport. New members who wouldn't try to cheat their way to a win.
"A medley relay, awww yeah! I've wanted to try competing in one of those too, oh man," Mathias listened to other boy attentively, "Backstroke is pretty awesome! Though, for me personally... I only swim free!" And as if he were making a joke, the blonde flipped him a peace sign and was holding back some giggles.
Mathias didn't get it.
"Ahh! Thats cool, we could always use more freestyle swimmers, and anyone willing to do a medley with me is cool in my books!" Mathias laughed, "But, you know my name, and I don't know yours! Would you mind introducing yourself?"
Mathias led the two of them to a table and sat down, but not before placing his backpack down. He tugged out a stack of papers and set them in the middle of the table.
"Also, look this over, too!"
Mathias grinned at his new team (hopefully) team member, and waited patiently, shoving the papers towards him.

Kylie ran down the hallway and skidded hard to narrowly avoid a collision with the bulletin board. Was it here? The classmate down the hall said it was. Yes! There was the notice for the swim team. At first Kylie had been anxious to join all the clubs she could, but upon arriving she had found that a) there wasn’t enough room on her timetable for both school AND all the games. And b) it wasn’t cool for high schoolers to join every club in existence (thank god she’d found that mistake out before committing it).
So regretfully she narrowed down her hobbies to only those that would be absolutely soul crushing to ever give up. Top of that list of course, was swimming. Kylie loved swimming because of the grace and strength that came with the sport. On land she was regular kind of clumsy girl, but in the water she was coordinated and inexhaustible. Swimming was the best.
According to the notice she had to go and find Mathias Anderson. She remembered him. He was the guy that told her about washing with soap and water instead of bathing in the sea. Kylie remembered what his hair looked like most of all because it stuck up all over the place. Now where could he be?
Find Mathias, find Mathias, find Mathias. Kylie scanned what she could see of the crowd (which wasn’t much because most of them were taller than her) for that distinctive gravity defying doo’. Luck was with her today because she spotted the blond standing right next to the bulletin board. He was talking with Al, the guy who had played hide and seek with her and Wes. The Aussie girl jumped in between them. “Are you looking for people for the swim team? Can I join? I’m a good swimmer. Pleeeeeeeeeease!” Kylie gave Mathias the puppy dog eyes that Wes liked to use and was guaranteed to produce results.
