Lukas stood solidly in the Combat Dojo with his arms crossed, and had a bored appearance to him. Around him were the quiet early morning sounds of Asher Academy: birds singing, the whirling of air conditioners, the distinct laughing of students, and the scribbling of the teacher standing beside him. Both of them were awaiting the arrival of another student, Lukas’ so-called “Sidekick”. The whole process was ridiculous, heroes and sidekicks… Lukas rolled his eyes at the thought. As A Hero, he was to be assigned another poor and pathetic student and they were supposed to train together, get to know one another, become best friends and one day save the world together.
Right….
Lukas reached up to stifle a yawn, he hadn’t slept well last night... had stayed up until about two, talking to his roommate in the dark. Lukas had awoken early, at dawn, and none of his other roommates had even stirred. A quick morning run around the school’s track and helped ease some of the tension out of his muscles and now he stood and waited for his acolyte. In his peripheral, he saw the adult check his watch: late, the kid was late. The heat was already rising and Lukas was sweating, he needed to take a shower, or perhaps go for a swim in the school’s pool, do a few laps. He admitted, that he did wonder what his associate would be able to do, and the teacher clearing his thought made him look up to see two figures approaching.
“Lukas Bondevik, class Hero, I’d like you to meet you’re new Sidekick! Emil Steilsson!” The adult announced; Lukas didn’t move, nor did his indifferent expression change thought the flare from the sun obscured his view of his new… “best friend”.
