Class projects could be good or bad, depending on the mood Alfred was in: productive or lazy.
He was feeling more of the latter at the moment. Sleepy, he yawned and stretched, making himself comfortable, collapsing on his desk. At least this one was partner-based -- not like their actual partners, but they were put into pairs based on their ability. Which could mean actual partners, he supposed, if people were lucky enough, but it was a rare event. The assignment was to test what the capabilities were of two people's powers and explore what could be reached under a combination of the two -- which still meant a hero and a sidekick, as this was a mixed class. It should be interesting at least, and Alfred waited to hear his name read off.
"Ana María Campos Hernández and Alfred F. Jones!"
Ooh, Ana María... He was familiar with the name, having heard it before -- the image of a Latina girl came to mind, and he recalled seeing her around before, but never really striking up a conversation. This would definitely be a cool experience, although having no idea what her ability was; at least it should be a sweet mix with his stellar manipulation, if the teacher had assigned them together.
When the names were finished being read off, the class was open for moving around and people moving to speak with their partners for the project. Alfred stood up and approached the girl with the long brown hair that he associated with the name Ana María, and waved with a grin.
"Hey! Ana María, yeah? Alfred F. Jones at your service!"

Ana María tapped her fingers to the side of her desk as she rested her head on her left hand. She couldn't even remember the name of this class. It was one of those things that she knew was mandatory to take but that she never really cared about in the first place. It wasn't that she didn't like this class in particular, she had a certain disregard for all things academic. She just wasn't the person to sit around for an hour listening to the everlasting sound a voice's echo.
She took a deep breath as she repositioned herself in the chair to avoid from drifting off to sleep. On the bright side, this was a class that was designed to test their abilities and merged them with others which sounded like an awesome experienced. Unlike some of the kids at this school, Ana María loved using her powers. It was an amazing feeling to be in total control over something that no one else in the world was able to achieve. It was a guilty sense of pleasure.
So naturally when the assignment was given, that's when Ana María woke up and decided to pay attention. She began listening to the teacher call out names of the people who were working together. Since this was a mixed class, most of the heroes had gotten paired with a sidekick (with the exception of those who were leftover) so it should be fairly interesting to see how two kinds of powers that differed in intensity could merge.
When Ana María heard her name be called out, she turned to look for a certain American that she knew only by name. But before she could stand up, said American walked up to her and with a very wide grin and what seemed like an endless supply of energy greeted her. She smiled. She had a feeling she would get along with this kid. "Yeah that's me. Great to meet you, Alfred. So you think we should start discussing our powers and get this show going?"
Ana María wondered for a moment what Alfred's powers might be. Out of all the pairings that she had heard, most of the people had something related to one another so that it wouldn't be a complete clash of powers that couldn't work together. Perhaps he possessed something like that kid Westley had, something to do with power enhancer. It would be fun to test the limits. She hadn't really done that in a while. The last time she had done so she had set the whole school in complete darkness for a week without any way to undo her wrongdoings. She looked forward to see what they could do together.
