SPECIAL ABILITY(s) Stellar Manipulation (Pure): Alfred is able to summon and control what is considered the light and bright part of star energy, in contrast to Stellar Manipulation (Dark) -- which focuses on manipulating the darker side of what star energy consists of. The ability is concentrated on people's beliefs of the nice kinds of stars; much like how children often doodle them as a yellow shape with five points. There are a few ways he can use his ability at the moment:
1. lighting up certain stars in the night sky to make a trail
2. make messages/pictures in the sky -- essentially making his own constellations
3. able to produce star-shaped pieces out of stardust from his hands, able to control them as he chooses -- whether for weapons or a show (they can become solid material if he wishes them to be)
All of the above require concentration on the task he is attempting to complete. If he's distracted, they will fail to work. They are relatively basic parts of his ability. The first two do not work during the day, and will not work unless there are stars visible in the sky. The third does not require it to be night, but the genuine starlight assists to power up his created stars two-fold, at the very least. He's also capable of purifying any darkness that may be tainting a person -- physically or mentally, but it requires all of his power at his current level, effectively exhausting him for an extended period of time until he is able to recover his energy.
Human Glow Stick: This is a much smaller side power -- one that has some sort of connection to his Stellar Manipulation, but he hasn't quite figured it out how it works exactly. At points in time when Alfred gets over-excited or has some sort of emotional spike -- such as anger, fear, embarrassment -- his entire physical body begins to emit a bright light; much like a glow stick does after you shake it. It will fade in time as he calms. Alfred is unable to control this ability at this point in time. It's harder to see during the day, though still noticeable. At night, it's extremely difficult to ignore if you see a light-shaped human approaching you.
HOW DID THEY FIGURE OUT? Alfred had always loved space, stars, and cosmic matter. As a child, he often liked to go stargazing with his family. There started to be a correlation where certain stars would shine brighter as he would shout and point at them excitedly, and he began to make his own constellations. He once spelled his own name in the stars, and as he grew older, he began to realize this wasn't normal.
For the glow stick aspect, it was blatantly obvious to his parents ever since he was a baby. He, like all other babies do, would cry and scream -- except, unlike other babies, he would glow. It was startling to the Jones family, but they weren't too concerned -- they knew that Alfred was special. It was only a matter of time before Alfred discovered it himself.[/ul]
`DREAMING ABOUT THE THINGS THAT WE COULD BE,
+Socializing;; Alfred is an extrovert who loves being around people. He likes to go out and spend time with his friends and have a good time! He's a pretty energetic guy in general, but he his enthusiasm reaches extreme levels when with his peers. He likes checking up on people and seeing how they're doing.
+Exercise;; Alfred has daily routines he always makes sure to do. The first thing he does in the morning is twenty-five sit-ups, and the same immediately before bed. He runs in the evenings for about an hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays (he has a special playlist to listen to and everything). He used to exercise more, but was advised it was unhealthy to overexert himself and to do it only a few times a week. Alfred somewhat grudgingly complied, and created his own schedule. He also visits the school gym at least once during the weekend.
+Video games;; just because Alfred is active doesn't mean he doesn't play some good old-fashioned video games! Well, that's a little bit ironic considering they're anything but old-fashioned, but he enjoys them nonetheless. He has a few consoles and plays whenever he has some free time and nothing else to do, and often plays multiplayer games with friends. He dislikes playing alone or leaving anybody out -- that's not at all fair to them.
He also enjoys technology in general.
+Animals;; he likes being around animals of all kinds and thinks they're all really interesting. They're like people, but not -- obviously since they can't communicate the same way, but Alfred cares for them as he would for people all the same. Sometimes it's nice being able to talk to somebody and just know they're listening without judgement.
+Horror;; mostly the movie genre. He likes the suspense and the build up to the climax... It's a lot of fun to watch! (But he sometimes has trouble falling asleep after.)
+Food;; all of his energy comes from his food! He's not the most healthy eater unfortunately, and quite likes his junk food and hamburgers, but he figures his exercise helps burn all the calories and it balances out. He'll usually eat whatever's put in front of him during dinner, but breakfast, lunch, and snacks are times for him to personally choose what he'll have.
+Archaeology;; Alfred has always found archaeology interesting. He's fond of history, and the idea of being able to learn about what people in the past did is fascinating to him. He's considering pursuing his interest of archaeology in college, but right now he considers it only a hobby and likes stopping by museums when he can.
+Space;; the idea of whole entire universes existing, far larger than anyone person could imagine, has always intrigued Alfred. There's infinite space that cannot be comprehended out there to explore, and possibly extraterrestrial beings. It's really amazing to think about, and sometimes Alfred likes to just lay in bed and dream about space. He also enjoys stargazing, and tries to go at least once a week at the very minimum.
+Competition;; there's nothing wrong with a little friendly banter every now and then! Alfred likes to compete with others to see who's the best, and appreciates it when people are good sports if they either lose or win. Since they live in a world where constant comparisons to each other are made, they might as well as make it fun and supportive.
+Heroes;; as a child, he always loved watching cartoons and television shows where there was a brave hero of justice who swooped in, beat up the bad guy, and saved the world. His eyes shone when he saw anything related with heroes, and a romanticized view of them has formed in his mind. He dreamed of becoming a hero when he was younger, and he secretly still hopes it will happen one day.
+Happy endings;; Alfred prefers movies and books to end on a good note. It certainly helps when there's a hero involved, but in general, he likes it when people are happy. He prefers to stay away from things related with depression and sadness since it can sometimes bring down his mood, and it's just better if all ended happily.
ALFRED DISLIKES
-Politics;; they're of no interest to him, and honestly people talk care about it too much for his liking. It's boring, usually, and he needs something to keep his attention for long periods of time or he'll start to get antsy.
-Pessimism;; he believes people should always look on the bright side of life. There's no reason to sit around being gloomy and waiting for death to happen, and he prefers to leap into action with no regrets. It's better to go down fighting than surrendering and giving in without doing anything, right?
-Obligations;; Alfred dislikes being tied down. He needs to spread his wings and be able to free to do his own thing, and he needs people to understand that.
-Hide and Seek;; for some reason, he can never win. Maybe it's because he gets too excited at the prospect and starts glowing without realizing it -- but whatever it is, he's always the first to be found!
-Marmite;; don't ask. He tried it once as a kid. It was absolutely disgusting. Never again.
-Villains;; aka, the bad guys! Alfred has the mindset that, as a hero/sidekick, they need to defeat the bad guys and keep the people protected. He frowns upon any injustice, and will not tolerate it.
-The Cold;; he much prefers warmth. Spring and summer are his favorite seasons, but he doesn't like autumn or winter very much. Snow is fun to play in and all, but the sun is the best!
-Losing;; Alfred isn't a sore loser, honestly! It's just a much nicer feeling to win -- besides, who doesn't like winning?
-Death;; no one likes death, but Alfred especially dislikes loss of life. It causes too much unneeded sadness, and he doesn't want to deal with it -- so much to the lengths that he'll avoid it outright if it comes down to it.
FEARS
*Weight;; Alfred isn't a really self-conscious guy. He's always out there, having fun, and living in the moment. But he's had problems in the past with being concerned about his weight. He doesn't typically worry himself with what and how he eats seriously, but he fears becoming overweight. This originated from being teased and called chubby and fat as a young boy, and although the kids weren't being serious, Alfred took it to heart.
*Ghosts;; He doesn't admit it easily, but he's genuinely scared of the supernatural -- especially ghosts. He finds them extremely creepy and unsettling, and the thought that someone long dead could be watching you... It's horrifying. He's also a bit paranoid and superstitious, but not overly so.
He tends to shrug this one off and puts on a brave face, but one can easily see through the guise.
*Loneliness;; he relies heavily on social interaction and people to function. Alfred needs people, whether or not they need him, and he's scared he'll be left behind. It's one subconscious reason why he's so forward and loud with his thoughts and actions -- he's afraid of being ignored. The slightest miscommunication of your intentions may be mistaken for something else, and he'll jump to conclusions and panic he's being abandoned.
QUIRKS
!Glasses;; Alfred is essentially blind without them. He has very bad vision.
!Accent;; when extremely upset, he'll slip into a Southern accent. It can take a while for him to calm down and for this to wear off.
!Hero complex;; because of this complex, Alfred tends to inadvertently create situations where he can fix the problem and provide a solution. This means that he could possibly start gossiping about someone to another person and rile them up without truly understanding what he's doing -- so he can swoop in and save the day by ameliorating the miscommunication.
OVERALL PERSONALITY
Alfred F. Jones is a bundle of blithe laughter and bright grins, filled to the brim with enthusiasm and charisma. Cheerfulness is usual to see when around Alfred, and he likes to stay optimistic and live life to the fullest he can. He believes in equality across the board for everyone in every single way possible, and is an idealist with particularly strong hopes. Outgoing and social to the point where people consider an avid attention seeker, he's just a bit too obnoxious when he speaks. His voice tends to be a tad too loud and he prefers to keep it that way, rather than endure silence.
Alfred is an over-excitable type of person, and as a result, often enough blurts out something without thinking. He's prone to taking action first and then considering. His words sometimes come off as insensitive and inconsiderate, and he gives the wrong impression by saying the first thing that comes to his mind. Because of this, people usually think he's full of himself and that he doesn't care about others, which isn't true at all. It's often presumed he's ignorant of others' feelings and yes, sometimes he has trouble reading others, but he typically gets the gist of people's general emotions. But if they're more difficult to read and are prone to hiding their emotions, he can be pretty clueless unless he's purposefully trying to understand. He doesn't mean to offend anybody, but it's a consequence of being so impulsive. He prefers to be around people who are able to tolerate his limitless enthusiasm. But then again, who would want to be around people who constantly are telling you "shut up"?
He also likes to be physically active, and therefore has a difficult time sitting still. He is usually preoccupying his hands by doing something, such as doodling on paper or some other activity that won't disturb the people around him. He doesn't like wasting time, and he considers time being wasted by doing nothing when something could be doing. But that being said, it doesn't mean Alfred doesn't procrastinate -- he simply fills up his time with other activities rather than academic work.
When it comes to sports, games, or mostly anything in general, Alfred is competitive to the extreme. He loves testing himself against others, and thinks it's fine to have friendly competition unless it becomes too serious or hurtful. As long as everyone is a good sport, it can be a great deal of fun, and he likes being able to interact with people in different ways and getting his energy out in a particularly good outlet. It kills two birds with one stone and it's friendly rivalries can be easily formed.
Over-excessive as well, he's called gluttonous for the sheer amount of food he inhales every meal, but he tries not to think about it. He's not afraid to indulge himself in the pleasures of life. It's a personal preference of his, but Alfred likes to know he'll have more than enough so he won't ever run out. He believes it's best to have more in the first place. The more, the better!
Alfred is a very friendly and charismatic person, and is the type of guy who greets every person he recognizes on the street. He believes in the saying "treat people how you would like to be treated", and personally enjoys it when people recognize him and are nice enough to return his greeting. He likes seeing when people are happy, and loves to make them laugh, so he tends to be a bit goofy. He's playful and prefers to joke around, and prefers a lightened atmosphere over a tense one. Since he's such a people person, he often requires being in the presence of said people. He gets his energy because of them, and he loves his friends -- they're probably the most important thing to him. He encourages people and is usually the optimist of the group since not many are, and acts as a light of hope, so they won't give up.
A natural born leader, Alfred possesses the traits of being capable to organize people and give them orders. He radiates a certain type of glow that attracts people towards him with his social traits and bright smiles, and people cannot help but be drawn towards it, like moths to a flame. However, this doesn't necessarily mean they'll be followed or he presents them in a polite manner or people agree with everything he says. He doesn't typically strategize and therefore does not have a lot of tact. He is messy with organization, but it tends to balance out fine in the end with his leadership skills.
Believing still in chivalry to some extent, he's polite to people and is the one holding the doors open for people. He'll take any chance he can to help people (regardless of their gender), since it makes him feel like a good person and a hero. Standing up for what he thinks is right, he has a tendency to butt into other people's business where he doesn't belong to prevent any lawbreaking before it even happens. He has very strong morals and believes in defenders of justice, and refuses to partake in wrongdoing. But he's also very loyal to his friends and family, so when it comes to a time where his morals and loyalty clash, it's difficult for him to make a choice.
The type of person who craves affection, Alfred greatly appreciates reassurance that he's not being annoying and he's wanted. There are times when his self-confidence breaks down and he desires to know he's not being only a bother to people -- but something more, something good. Both physical and emotional affection will suffice, but he prefers the former because it can be seen. He's a visual learner, and likes watching things be done, and images help. He also likes to hug people and holding hands was always the most romantic display of affection one could show in public without flaunting they were in a relationship with constant kisses.
Despite the need and want to be loved, Alfred doesn't like being caged and tied up in never-ending obligations. He yearns to fly freely in the open sky without any restrictions, and he's destined for freedom. If people try to stop him, he'll become antsy, tentative, and even distrusting -- his freedom and independence means everything in the world to him. He starts to get nervous at hints of being trapped, and his gut instincts tell him to flee before he can be caught. He's willing to take on burdens for the greater good, but if it threatens his personal freedom -- he's getting the hell out of there.
`BUT BABY, I BEEN, I BEEN PRAYIN' HARD!
[/ul][/font]Valentine's Day.
It was the coveted holiday anticipated by everyone -- whether you were single or you weren't. Those who were happily in a relationship were already set, they didn't have anything to worry about. As for those who were still crushing/hoping/waiting, Valentine's Day was pretty much the perfect opportunity to admit feelings.
Or, in Alfred's case, attempt to not so subtly tell a friend he liked him more than that. Meaning, he was about to go shove a gigantic fifty dollar teddy bear in Ivan's locker.
Alfred hoped it'd be worth it. Fifty dollars drained right from his wallet... Seriously, he wasn't made of money! But he hadn't thought a card would've done the trick, and after his many, many, many attempts of trying to do something creative from the heart, Alfred had just given up and went to the nearest super store. He had just ignored all the stares at the incessant amount of red glitter in his hair. It'd been a total pain in the ass to wash it out too; he had been stuck in the shower for at least an hour.
But he digressed! Today was the day he would finally admit he had been feeling a little something for his Russian classmate for a while. Alfred grinned, whistling as he walked down the hallway to his own locker. It was perfect timing.
The main problem/concern was how he could get away with hiding such a huge teddy bear and not be questioned. The best strategy he had thought of was putting it in a large bag, but then that looked even more suspicious... Regardless, it seemed to work, and he fended off any questioning or amused looks. He just had to make sure Ivan himself didn't see it, so he hid it in his locker.
As soon as the bell rang, he shot off like one of his favorite rockets and practically sprinted to wrangle open the door and grabbed the bag as fast as possible so nobody would see. Excited due to the adrenaline of rushing and attempting to be stealthy, Alfred nearly bounced on the familiar route to Ivan's locker -- and upon seeing that the taller teen wasn't present, he fiddled with the lock. He had seen Ivan open it enough times to have memorized the numbers (well, after very carefully observing him open it a few times to be absolutely sure).
Removing the bear from the bag with care, he gently placed it in the locker on top of the stack of Ivan's textbooks. In his paws there was a note on red construction paper, "For: Ivan | From: Guess Who : D" appropriately written on it.
Alfred took only a moment to admire his handiwork before slamming the locker shut. He glanced around for any sign of Ivan, but thankfully he didn't see any, and decided it would be best to return back to his own locker to drop off and pick up what he needed now, since he obviously hadn't had time before -- as well as shove the bag in before anybody asked where its contents went.
He hummed happily as he made his way through the halls. When he was back at his locker, he opened it with practiced ease and tossed in his math textbook without really looking. Hmm, next class... English. Alfred grabbed the right textbook from the stack and shut his locker before heading towards the classroom.
Just as luck would have it, he finally spotted Ivan's familiar, large figure. He ran up to him, beaming.
"Hey, big guy! Happy Valentine's Day!" Alfred grinned, looking at him with mischief in his blue eyes, and he tried to appear as innocent as possible. "Got any special plans for today?"
Hopefully, his answer would be a no.
